Good mental health means that we are resilient and can deal with the ups and downs of life without being caught up in strong and distressing emotions that impact our ability to function in a healthy way.
When you are separating or dealing with ongoing relationship conflict, it can be a time of real issues for your own mental health and can have a flow-on effect on your children.
Have you noticed changes in your children’s behaviour?
Are they louder or “naughtier” than usual?
Or perhaps they are quiet and don’t want to talk, when they normally would.
Are they having trouble sleeping or not seeming to enjoy the things they normally would?
These could all be signs of problems with their mental health, letting you know that they need a bit of extra help to manage their feelings and deal with problems in their lives.
