Tara's approach
I have seen first-hand the devastating effects that legal
proceedings have on families including the financial turmoil from meeting
ongoing and increasing legal fees, the emotional upheaval and distress caused
by the lengthy Court process and the frustration caused by the ongoing
requirement to adhere to Court orders.
I believe that empowering parties to resolve their dispute without court intervention is fundamental in achieving happiness and ensures that children are not exposed to the detriments of ongoing conflict enabling them to focus on being children and parents to focus on being co-operative and positive co-parents.
I am a NMAS accredited Mediator and accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner attaining my accreditation in 2020. Prior to these achievements I was a Judge’s Associate in the Family Law jurisdiction of the Federal Circuit Court of Australia for over 10 years. Many of the matters before the court involved serious family violence, drug and alcohol concerns and mental health issues. During this time, I witnessed the emotional and financial stress that Court proceedings have on families and most importantly, children which has driven me to help families in conflict.
With this unique insight into family law, I am dedicated to helping families resolve their parenting and property disputes without the need for Court intervention allowing parties to move forward and to begin focusing on the things that matter the most to them after separation.
I have extensive experience working with families from diverse backgrounds and helping self-represented litigants understand legal processes, a skill that allows me to work with parties in a way that they can understand.
I am currently completing a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Behavioural Studies and am due to graduate in July 2021. In addition, I am working towards becoming a Family Group Conference Facilitator helping Indigenous families and families with children in care reach a suitable resolution.
