Frequently Asked Questions

Not usually. Interact Support does not have any government funding which is what makes most of the funded services "free" for clients.

We do have hardship policies in place and a community mediation program in place.
We will not turn someone away because of your financial situation but if you can pay we ask you to do so.

If you fill out the form a team member will call you to discuss your situation and that phone call and related support is definitely free.

Mediation is a process where a trained and registered independent 3rd party mediator helps two or more people who have a dispute to try and resolve it.

The mediator will meet with each of you privately and confidentially first to make sure that mediation is appropriate and to help you to prepare. Then they will arrange for the mediation session or sessions. These are usually online with our service but other services also do mediation sessions face to face in person.

The important thing about mediation, regardless of the format used, is that it provides a way for you to back off the conflict, communicate about the issues and your perspectives and give you a safe and confidential place to try and sort things out so they don't continue to escalate.

We don't have a waiting list. Our approach is to use a team of mediators located throughout Australia who have the ability to take on one or two cases with us at a time. We can expand as needed to meet demand.

If you have a dispute there really is no reason to sit waiting on a waiting list for a government subsidized service when for a reasonable fee for service model like ours you can get the help you need to resolve the issues.
